Jumble Sale

Mr O'conner has presented us, year 12, an activity called Jumble Sale and encouraged us to take part in it to help organizing it.
On the 25th of November we had a Jumble Sale in our school. This activity is taking place in our school each year and it is made to give an opportunity to students to donate money to the orphanage. Every one has to bring something that they don't use anymore or they are sick of this thing. Then all the things which were brought are collected and stored in a classroom. After the classroom is transformed in a some sort of a market those thing are put up for sale so the money gained from the sales goes as a donation to an orphanage which is not far from our school. I brought the book about Lenin in english and two DVDs. I was also glad to provide service by helping to set up the Jumble Sale. I was selling donated things at my stand and as the result I have sold a pair of ice skates, few toys and a hand bag. I hope my work was helpful for the children in the orphanage.

Tennis Club

One of my favorite sports is tennis, because I find it healthy and competitive. I have been playing tennis for more than 6 years and at one period of my life I was actually considering playing tennis as my future profession. And even though I have decided to dedicate my life to education, I still play tennis twice a week.
Every Tuesday and Sunday I go to the tennis cub called "Ace Club" to improve my tennis skills. Usually I play with a trainer or my father, who is also a very good tennis player, but sometimes I play with random people from the club, which are willing to play tennis with someone. That is why I have to use my communicating skills to find an opponent for the game.
I enjoy playing tennis, because I fell like it is just my type of sport. I like being sportive and I am glad I have enough freetime to play lawn tennis.

Weather Club

IB coordinators from our school has presented our year a Weather Club. It was already going on for the past few years, so we can see the result of the work of the previous IB students. In the Weather Club our year is devised into pairs and each of us is represented by a time table, showing the day when each pair should investigate the weather in Moscow. We have to measure the minimum, maximum and current temperatures, the air pressure, the amount of daily rainfall or other precipitates and other basic weather descriptions.
The aim of the Weather Club is pointing out global environmental issues, like global worming, or other global weather changes. Thus every year everyday's result is collected and the big diagram is drawn, so that we can compare the results from previous years and outline outstanding changes in weather. Everyone have to show responsibility, perseverance and a lot of commitment, because if at least one day of measurements is missed, the whole year work is going to be inaccurate.

Swimming

One of my favorite sports is swimming, this simple sport is very healthy. Every Saturday and Sunday mornings I go to "Marina Club" fitness centre to swim 1.5 km.
I am improving my swimming skills and showing perseverance every weekend morning, because not everyone is able to wake up at 8 on Sundays and go swimming for more than 1 hour.
The fitness club where I go has a very big swimming pool (25m by 50m), which gives me a good opportunity to swim long distances. As the result of my trainings I am soon going to increase the distance to 2 km, because it takes me less and less time to swim 1.5 km every time I swim.

Providing Service To Organizations

Kite Activity.

On the first of September our class started the IB program with a kite workshop. We were given by a piece of a plastic bag, some strings, wooden sticks and a grafite ducktape. Since we were devided into group of four, our teacher showed us the basic rooles how to make a kite and we started to make one. The work in the groups showed us our strengthes and weakneses, and also gave us a possibility to learn a new skill, wich is making a kite. When i was making a kite i learned to work collaboratively with the rest of the group to achieve a good result. After we made a kite we went to a park nearby to test our kite. Even though our kite was not flying properly because of wind, I developed a new skill. I learned how to build a kite and how to work in the team.

The International Day

In the 4th of October there was an International Day in our school. The aim of this event is to present to students the variety of different countries, their cultures, habits and, of course, food. Our school, as well as its students, is internationally minded, thus our year group was encouraged to help younger students to learn about different nationalities. Our year group was split into groups of three or four, then to provide a planned activity. I was in the sport group, we have prepared a quiz on different types of sport, both international and domestic. We worked collaboratively and it helped us to organize young students from year 7 and 9. After the quiz we have organized a little football match, for children to be interested in this sport and be competitive.
After the activities there was an International Lunch, for which I have prepared the traditional Russian salad with meat called Olivie, thus showing my creativity. I did not have a chance to try it myself because after serving food to younger students and teachers it was completely gone. That is why I can consider it  being tasty. Every IB student, including me, had to help in organizing the holiday, helping out students' parents, planning activities and serving food and drinks, thus I can decline that I have shown a lot of perseverance and motivationбзкщмшвштп service.
